Default OnStar Replacement

I have an 07 Monte and OnStar has since "sunsetted" some/most of the features due to it using older tech for the cellular portion. I was wondering if the components can be upgraded/replaced while using the factory wiring harness to restore OnStar on the car? Has anyone checked into this or know if it's possible?

Thanks.

I would call Onstar and see what they say! They have been very helpful when I call them and I am not even signed up.

I already have spoken with OnStar and they said to go to a dealer and ask them ... but haven't done that and not sure if they'd even know ... at least not at my local one.

Okay did a little google search on this issue and found this link. apparently the old GM stuff has 2G network equipment and the new versions are 5G. But I also read that you can add on-star to a vehicle that doesn't have it? Might check that out?
