Just dropped in Mobil 1 Synthetic. Good thing I did it before the snowfall we've had this week too.

I find that 5w30 is generally somewhat easier starting in the winter, and conventional versus synthetic- synth is 4x better!

I mean from personal experience the car does seem to have a veryslight amount more getup n go, but in reality it's the cold starting that sold me. Unfortunately I've tried to put block heaters in both my montes with little success, and besides ur not supposed to leave em plugged-in all night, which makes it rather annoying to have to wait 10 minutes for it to work when heck the car can just run for 5 minutes and be warmer for me. Yeah it wastes gas and i'm cold starting it, but heck the cars are made in canada, I doubt a few cold starts is really going to do more damage than my lead foot!

You can't go wrong with any synthetic oil it's far better than dino oil for protection, Personally I don't use it on my daily drivers simply because I change my oil and filter every 3K. I know that synthetic is good for more miles (up to 15K) but the filter isnt. All the filters I am awhere of are 10 micron. And synthetic will not give you more HP in fact some dino oils have better friction additives than synthetic, they just dont last very long. That being said I have Royal purple in my Camaro (engine, transmission, and rearend) but I only put about 6K a year on it. and I use Castrol dinoin my GT, Truck, and Monte carlo. Like I said before all oil filters are a 10 micon filter so they are pretty much the same from one brand to anther. with one exception STP filters if they still make them were like a 5 micron filter and they would clog up in dirty engines.
