Default Synthetic Oil..yay or ney????

I Just bought an 03 monte ls. I havent even paid the first payment yet. It was garage kept and a weekend driver. It has 18,000 miles and i am looking forward to putting some money into this monte over the years. Now, i have been debating on switching the oil to synthetic oil. What do you think? Is it really worth it? does the sythetic oil make a big difference. Please help me out.

synthetic oil in most cases is just an oil to last longer...if you go with something like royal purple or some mobil 1 products they should last for about 15000 miles before you 'should' do an oil change...it lasts longer than that though..its the filter that will break down first...

i would suggest putting a good filter on as well...something like wix, wix gold filters will last as long as the synthetic oil does...

At 18K I would say switch over.

I feel that synoil lubricates better than dino and wont break down as quickly.

I use Mobil One on everything I own, including my lawn mower...

Synthetic lubes don't just last longer, they lube better. In extreme heat they will not carbonize and will continue to lubricate. In extreme cold they flow like water and don't starve your components of lube. You will also get better fuel economy and that happens because synthetic lubes reduce friction and heat, and that is a good thing!

If you use a synthetic oil as I do, Mobil 1, use a good filter as described above. I personally like Mobil 1's oil filters.

Haha... when did this thread turn into Lawn mower discussion? LMAO!!! Anyway, I use fully synth too, everyone pretty much hit all the points already, I just wanted to throw my opinion in there too. Oh, but sticking with the NEW topic of the thread, I don't even own a lawn mower, but the last one I had was a craftsman and it was pretty good. Haha.
