I have the 3.5l v6 I've done two oil changes so far and both times the oil filter has been covered in oil dripping off I don't know where from any ideas?

 

I had the same issue back when I used to have a 08 Impala with a 3.5.

Mine ended up being the gasket for the oil filter adapter that goes between the adapter and the engine block. The oil would leak out of the gasket, run down the lower edge of the adapter, onto the filter, then onto the ground. So the oil filter had oil residue all over at each oil change.

A bit of a pain to change as there's not much room to work with in there, but it is doable in the car.
