Which oil
I had a friend recently tell me that a car with as many miles as mine does, (46,000) will not take a switch to synthetic oil very well. He said a switch to synthetic after it has that many miles on it will cause the engine to shake and rattle more than it should. I told him it's the LS1, so it already rattles some, and also on my 3.8 Monte Carlo I switched it to royal purple synthetic at 60,000 miles and had no problems.
Should I worry about the engine rattling more? I feel like i'm going to make the switch anyways, but is there any truth behind what he says?

And here is proof it doesnt hurt anything: I switched my 1989 Chevy truck from conventional to Full Synthetic about 5 years ago at 190,000 miles. It now has 223,000 miles on it, and runs GREAT. The synthetic actually helped clean up some of the deposits inside the engine from using conventional for all those years.
Make the switch. 46,000 miles is still young.
i just rebuilt my monte of 150,000 miles and switched it over to valvoline full synthetic. picked it all up at advanced auto for 27$ with the filter. that cheap as dirt to me if it will allow my car to run another 100,000 miles
