Which oil
my family have used wix since i was a little kid so thats what i've always used. i'm pretty sure if i used fram my old man would dissown me. back on the oil though, the oil company fixed the synthetic oil problem where it leaks everywhere? just wanna make sure before i put it in
Yea, Wix are also very good filters.
You will not have any leak problems with synthetic. If its leaking on conventional, it will continue to leak on synthetic, but synthetic will not cause any leaks.

Mine said the same thing, and he's been a mechanic for 25 years! He always bougth the cheap O'Reilly store brand crap, until he realized, on his own truck, that it wasn't as good. Broke down quicker, and wasn't as thick.
Back in the day I was a big Mobil 1 fan and used it in everything on my 98 chevy truck. I started doing oil analysis and discovered that my results were not that great with Mobil 1. Blackstone labs did not recommend doing extended drains. I used it for a couple of years, more all the time doing oil analysis, and switched to Chevron Supreme conventional oil. My oil analysis results were better and the engine was a lot quieter and used less oil. I've never used Mobil 1 again or any synthetic for that matter.
I use Valvoline conventional oil these days and have no problems. I still own my 98 chevy truck and it still is running fine. I bought this truck new and have maintained it religiously.
Some people like synthetics but for me I didn't get my money's worth.

I used Mobil 1 in my 1990 chevy truck since I bought it new in 90. I had the 4.3 Vortex V6 in it. I traded it in in 07 with 160,000 miles on it and it ran like a top and used no oil in between oil changes. I use Royal Purple in my 04 Monte Carlo SS with 42,000 miles on it and had no problem. A friend of mine blends oil for a company and he recommended it. I like the RP.
I had a friend recently tell me that a car with as many miles as mine does, (46,000) will not take a switch to synthetic oil very well. He said a switch to synthetic after it has that many miles on it will cause the engine to shake and rattle more than it should. I told him it's the LS1, so it already rattles some, and also on my 3.8 Monte Carlo I switched it to royal purple synthetic at 60,000 miles and had no problems.
Should I worry about the engine rattling more? I feel like i'm going to make the switch anyways, but is there any truth behind what he says?
