Default Noise when moving in reverse

Okay, hopefullysomeone elsehas heard this noise and can tell me what it is.
I'm talking about the suedo grinding noise after you've put the car in reverse and let off the brake. It only happens when the car has sat and it is the first time you've driven it that day. My new to me monte does it, my fiance's old GP with the same 3.1 did it, and my mom's Montana with the 3400 does it too. They all make the same distintive noise. I know it doesn't mean anything is wrong (the van is a 98 she's had since 2000 and did it from day one) but I was just wondering if anyone knew what actually causes that noise.

Sounds like a brake caliper problem to me. Maybe a stone, salt, or some other corrosion in the calipers, not letting it release properly

Could be, but that quickly turned to the least of my worries now that I have to replace my intake gaskets [:@]
