6th Gen ('00-'05): Noise after intake manifold swap
Hi guys, recently I replaced my upper and lower intake manifolds and gaskets because the car was leaking different fluids into my driveway. Originally I was just going to replace the upper gasket, but in the process of torquing down the original upper manifold, I cracked one of the screw holes on the lower one. The inside of the engine wasn't exposed, but I had to drive the car for about a week with one of the ten upper intake screws not torqued down very tightly while I waited for new manifolds that I ordered to come. I don't think this caused a problem, but between the time that that happened and I installed the new manifolds, a ratcheting/grinding noise started to come from the front of the car. It's loud enough to hear with the windows closed and happens under all kinds of circumstances. It happens a lot when I first step on the gas to accelerate (but not every time) and then goes away, but it also happens when the car is just cruising at a steady speed with me giving it just enough gas to maintain whatever speed I'm at. (This happens a little less often). With the car not in gear, reving the engine won't cause the sound. I took a video of me driving the car around the block and you can hear it almost every time I accelerate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZETg...ature=youtu.be I really don't know what to think of it, maybe I forgot to tighten something when re-assembling and I'm just hearing that or maybe it's a serious problem from either the manifold cracking or something completely unrelated. Any suggestions or input are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance guys!
