Default Intake Manifold Gasket leak

Hey guys, I haven't been on in a long time. But I've recently started having major problems with my monte. My water pump went out on my car, so I had to get that replaced. 300 bucks. Then after that, I still smelt a sweet burning smell of coolant. Well took it to chevy and the pressure checked it at 2 different dealerships, and I have a leaking manifold gasket thats leaking coolant down into the engine. I'm assuming this is bad because they started freaking on me telling me I needed to get it fixed A.S.A.P because it'd seize up my engine. Well I said let me think about it and got an estimate to have em fix it. . .1200 dollars. . .I was like. . .well let my engine seize up then, cause I can't afford that. So my question is, I called around and got cheaper prices but its still 500 - 600 bucks. Has anyone replaced this part before? If so, is it hard? Chevy told me I could have days before the engine seized up, or months. I just got the oil changed so I don't think it'll be days. I think I'm ok there. But any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Have you checked the recalls? My 02 SS 3.8 had a recall for a leaking intake gasket. See if you're covered before laying out that cash.

there's gotta be some backyard mechanics in your town and just go to buy it @ autozone or something, ask them to match a price

i'm in canada and i can do them for 99.99 +tax part # MS98003T (for the 3.4l)

they should be able to match any price if they're selling them for more
