OK, that confirms the password stored and exchanged between the BCM, PCM and chip in the ignition lock cylinder is not getting passed on through the serial data link. You've already replaced the ignition switch housing, so that narrows the problem down to the BCM, PCM, ignition lock cylinder chip, wiring for any part of that circuit, or a bad ground, possibly the one one on the bell housing stud under the air duct where one large cable and two small wires connected to a single connector are bolted to that stud. One thing that doesn't make sense though is...you say you can hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key to "on" or "start". The password needs to be confirmed by all three (BCM, PCM and the ignition lock cylinder chip) to enable fuel delivery and ignition. Are you sure about that? If you have someone turn the key over while you listen for the hum of the fuel pump through the filler neck with the cap off it might be easier to tell. If you had access to a scan tool there might be a code, even if you don't have a check engine light. BCM codes start with a "B".

ok-car finally starts and runs again. Despite their being no codes (after everything else was replaced and/or checked anyway) I did replace the BCM and then had someone program it with a Tech II, car started right up, huffed white smoke due to being loaded up from all the trying to start her, after 20 mins or so smoke went away and I did an oil change to get rid of fuel in oil, and have been driving her for the past week with no issues, so obviously BCM was problem even though it never through a code. Thank you for all of your help with my problem.-Cathy

Glad to hear you're back on the road Cathy!

Problems like this can be super frustrating and pretty much require a Tech II to diagnose and program.

Thanks for the follow up.

Glad to hear it is back on the road again. Would be interesting to see what the inside looks like. My Sisters Monte had some issues and after we replaced hers I took her old one apart. It looked like it had been swimming once before. Haven't taken another apart to see if it was just bad Manufacturing or just hers had been in the drink.
