Default Nightmagics mystery issues...please help

Ok so this is gona be long...ive had my baby for almost 2 years. last winter my abs, trac light, and service trac light came on for maybe 20 secs. went away. never came on again. then over the summer they came back on. took it back to my mechanic and the reader said my abs pump was bad. he cleared it and we waited to see if the code came back. this was (early oct last year) i was out driving all day and when i finally was heading home i noticed something not right about her trany, she was hesitating going into gears. i was only going thru town my speed was 35. then when i went up a hill she slammed out of 1st gear. i freaked out. called my mechanic. he told me to change the fluid and filter and start there. a couple days later he did that for me...nothing changed. took it to trany shop. the codes brought up were po730, u1040, and has no overdrive. and yes i could tell that i had no overdrive, because everytime i let my foot off the gas it went into neutral and then as soon as i would put foot back on...it went into 3rd. i got the news...and i bawled..i didnt have the money to fix her and i had a planned trip to Salem Ma in a week. my mechanic calmed down told me to just keep her in drive, stay close to home, and it would give me some time to save up. drive it till she blows pretty much. sounded good to me. so then december rolls around, and one day my abs pump would NOT shut off if i was doing over 20mph. constantly and on and off activation, and no lights came on on the dash. i was forced to pull the plug to the pump cuz it was so irritating. took it to my mechanic again, he scanned it and it popped up a **** load of codes. there was only 2 that he was really concerned about and wanted to research them. He also disconnected the abs again and said there was condensation in the plug. i looked and yes..tiny little beads of water.there was condensation in another little plug like sensor that close to my sidewall, not sure what its called, i think its connected to the abs tho.. the paper he wrote them down on mysteriously disappeared by the next day (just my luck) so i had to get her back down to him (a week later)...we drove around 2x b4 even 1 code came up (and this is including even codes that the trany USED to read). GREAT, now all my codes are gone! the only code that she read was c1298. Wonderful...just flippin wonderful. SOOO my question is..is there a POSSIBILITY that it is ALL my computer that is screwing up my baby and causing her to think the trany is bad and everything following? or could the moisture in the plugs be screwing with it (and if thats the case i wana know how the moisture is getting in there)? or is there maybe a sensor that is bad that would cause all this? taking in ALL thoughts and possibilities! thanks to everyone who helps!

ABS and TRAC OFF are common problems with our cars. Each wheel has it's own Wheel Hub Assembly, and inside there are speed sensors that tell the car how fast each wheel is spinning, this way the car knows when one wheel isn't spinning the same and that's when traction control kicks on.

It is common for these sensors to get wet and malfunction, however you can't just replace the sensor because it's built into the whole wheel hub assembly, so you would have to just replace that faulty hub assembly.

Good Link for a How-To on wheel hub assembly replacements

The transmission has a lot of solenoids that can go bad because they get too hot. I'm on my second transmission myself, but instead of rebuilding my old one since I didn't have the money, my mechanic sourced me a used transmission for $400, gave me a 1-year parts/labor warranty on it, and installed it for $400 also. Total bill was $800, which was MUCH less than a new transmission or the rebuild of the old.

TripleEdgePerformance.com is a great website to read about our transmissions.

They can't be read with an OBD-II scanner tool, they need to be read as a specific ABS code reader, as long as the ABS light is on, it should be able to be pin-pointed as to which speed sensor went bad.

ALSO, there could just be a bad ground in the system causing faulty symptoms. There is a ground that goes bad under the PCM/Airbox, also check the grounds for each wheel.

when the abs pump was doing its quirky ordeal...my abs light was not on. and its still not on. i have to keep the pump disconnected because like i said it wont shut off. my mechanic has a reader that specifically reads abs. it pulls up every code known in the pcm. the first time he had it on the reader and it brought up a bunch of codes (this is when the pump first started acting up) i didnt have any lights on except for trac off (and that light came on later in the day after the issue had already started) and i remember him looking all confused saying that it said my transmission was running high temps. but he wasnt sure if it was doing that because of a bad sensor or if the overheating of the trany made the sensor bad. beings that the traction control is controlled by the trany and the abs feeds off the trac...plus with the 3 lousy codes i was able to get since this all started... is it possible that the pcm is causing all this havoc? she barely has 130k, her trany acted up one day out of the blue without EVER showing ANY other signs something is wrong. The trany guy told me that overdrive is gone. claims the gear threads were totally worn down to nothing. But its not like he had the trany apart to SEE for himself. seeing is believing im just having a hard time believing that her trany could go bad just like that..in one day
