Just picked up an 05 Monte. Nice ride, very comfortable. Has anybody had the black paint flake off of the cruise buttons on the steering wheel? Cost to replace?

Is the 3.4 a turd, or does this thing just need a tuneup (82,000 miles)?

Good source for factory fog lights (besides dealer)?

 

All the newerchevys that we have owned have the black paint wear off the buttons. My father's GMC work trucks always lose their color. It does it the worst on the radio, but the steering wheel buttons doit too.

The 3.4 isnt a powerful engine but it should get the job done. Change the plugs and wires and change the air filter and see if it perks up.

About the factory fog lights, PM RickCoMatic or just wait and see if he pops in. He put in factory fog lights in his 04 LS. He would be the best person to talk to.

 

Also, an intake leak will take power away from the motor and the 3400 is known for it.

 

Yeah, I heard about the gasket problems and I checked that before I bought it. No coolant loss, no liquid in the oil, no smoke. Also, fresh black permatex around the manifold so I'm guessing somebody bit that bullet before I bought it.

 

The 3.4 wont make your Monte a race car, but it's a great economical daily driver. Congrats on your new Monte.
