New Monte SS Owner Questions
We just bought a 2002 Monte Carlo SS and have some questions. What gen is a 2002? Also there are 2 badges that Im not sure they belong. 1 is a small wing like badge on the left side of the trunk, to the right of the SS? Also on the right side of the trunk there is a V6 SL emblem on it. Are these 2 stock?
Thanks,
Adam

First, welcome to the forum!
Your 2002 Monte Carlo SS is part of the 6th generation. 6th Generation covers 2000 to 2005.
The badges you describe don't sound to be stock. I don't recall ever seeing or hearing about a "V6 SL" emblem on any 6th generation Monte Carlo. Unless it was a dealership customization. But I'm guessing it was a previous owner that stuck them on himself / herself.
Unfortunately because of the new system setup, you won't be able to post pictures for a few days. But when you're able to, please do post pictures of your "new-to-you" ride. We'd all love to see the new addition to your stable!

Welcome to the site. Is the small winglike badge an Indy 500 badge? The reason I am asking is that in 04 the Chevy Impala had a special Indy edition and that badge could of come from there.

What does the Indy badge look like? Anyone have a picture? Also would that be a stock badge on there or just someones add on? Im not sure what level of SS it is. It has dual Staneless tips and the back bumber kinda wraps around them. Its one color, silver and has the 5 spoke diamond cut rims. Leather and all the options but no Supercharger. Does anyone know if this is special or just a normal SS.
Thanks,

It sounds like you have what is called the high sports appearance package. The ground effects, chrome tips, stand up spoiler, 5 spoke diamond cut rims and a instrument cluster that says "special edition" on it. It sounds like the winglike badge someone put it on there - it didn't originally come with the car.

yep the ground effects alone will cost you a small fortune (if you can find them) if you ever need to replace them. That high sports appearance package added about 2k to the price of a regular SS - but look at all the stuff you are getting!!! If you look carefully at my sig - both of my cars have the high sports appearance package on them.
