6th Gen ('00-'05): New ignition swith car wont start
I replaced the ignition swith (tumbler/key ) and the actual switch. The security message flashes on the dash and car wont start. It ran great for 2 days, put together the dash (including plugging in hazard button) and now it no starts.
1 tried the relearn process 10 min On position, off for 30 seconds ( repeat 3 times ) still it starts then dies. If i give it gas it stays running.

any issues before you did the switch change? Do you get a flashing security light?
It seems odd it worked fine for 2 days then stopped. How many starts did you do in that time? I would check the connection in the ignition switch. My car has an issue where i need to push in on the ignition switch to start it, otherwise I the car won't even turn over. I just turn the switch and nothing, feels like a security lock out but it's not. My issue is a wire is loose or I have loose connection in my ignition switch, this is my guess for your problem. I need to fix mine sometime, but I've been doing other car work.
If reseating the ignition switch doesn't work then check with a multimeter that you get 12v to the starter when you turn the key to start, this is the best way to see what's up and is free. If not 12v is present and you don't have a flashing security light then you have a issue with the ignition switch or wiring to the BCM.
If you have no security light and 12v to the starter then I would suspect a fuel issue and I would change the fuel filter if it hasn't been done in the last 40k miles, this is a $8 part and easy to do so. Then go from there

So just on a whim I went up to Advance Auto and had them test the battery. Seems I had a battery with a bad cell. Once I replace the battery car starts fine so far no issues. But the security message on the dashboard is still on.

If the security is still flashing in ur dash message area that means that ur problem is only temporary fixed. It will malfunction on u again. While mine would start I took it to my buddy who has a small town mechanics shop and he hooked up to my computer and disabled the vats haven't had a problem since I don't worry about security since I have an aftermarket alarm.
