6th Gen ('00-'05): New fuel pump looks different than the old one

Default New fuel pump looks different than the old one
Purchased a ACDelco MU1743 fuel pump for my '02. Verified that it's corrrect for the vehicle. It looks different. Did the design change in the last 20 years? None of the new pumps have this extra filter on the bottem. Thanks, Mike

Old fuel pump with some kind of filter on the bottem.

Nothing on the bottem
