Default 04 Monte Carlo trunk not closing properly

So this is a little annoying and was wondering if this was a common issue. When closing the trunk, it doesnt close easily and you have to give it a good amount of force at the top center to close. In fact, I noticed that there is a ever so slight indentation in the top of the center trunk (right before the lip) where it appears to be where the previous owner would close the trunk. Is there a fix for this?

I have the same problem. Ive even tried adjusting the bolts. Id say get a new latch, or do what i do, give it a nice squirt of WD-40. Fixes it right up.

Thanks. I'll get some WD and try it out.

does it go up strong? maybe your trunk struts are on the fritz and you just need to get those replaced?

If the trunk struts were no more good, wouldn't the lid come slamming down? Making it easier to close?

Mine is fine overall but it does have to have a good amount of force for it to close, i have walked away before and it was not closed. every now and then it almost seems to close and then quickly pops back open and its not closed.
