I have a 1986 monte carlo ss when i start my car it shakes and stalls on idle sometimes and just yesterday on the highway my car began to misfire and i hear a click. I believe it is the spark plug because my rpms are very low when I step on the gas and i burned half a tank going under 30 miles from home but i would rather be safe than sorry!!!

The plugs and wires would be a good place to start looking. Once it gets dark, open your hood, start your Monte and check to see if you can see any electrical arcing from your spark plug wires or anywhere near the distributor. Seeing any arcing would indicate cracked wires/distributor.
Do you know when the plugs and wires were last changed?
