Default Main brake lights work, center ones don't.

Hmmm, what's going on here? My Monte's main brake lights work just fine, but the center ones don't (the 'center ones' meaning the regular one at the bottom of the rear window, and the one built into the Brickyard spoiler).

Could it simply be a bad bulb, or a harder-to-trace broken connection somewhere?

I'm also suspecting that the spoiler brake light is dependent on the window brake light working; after all, it's not likely for them to both be burned out at the same time. So, if the window light's bad, then fix it and the spoiler light works again too?

And lastly, does the window unit use one bulb or two, and can they be accessed from underneath, thru the trunk? (Hope so, if that's it.)

Are they LED lights? The housing for them looks to be for LED lights and if they are then first: check the connection?
Second: Fuses are there any that control you're third brake light independently?
Third: wiring still has 12v both ways?
Fourth: are the lights burned out? Inspect by straight wiring to another random LED light.
Fifth: ground (if any)
Final: I'd be clueless after the fifth step on what's wrong.

Sorry grammar & spelling is all off and I'm using my iPhone, it's easier typing this edit that actually editing.

The problem is a bad multifunction switch. .
My wife's 99 had the same problem.
The New multifunction switch fixed it.

The multifunction switch? Okay, but I wonder why there'd be a connection between it and the center brake light. My MFS is working okay, doing everything else fine.

Thanks, nitehawkjcb, STUMPMI, and Habbibie; I'll look into it sometime.

It's very common to have odd issues with random brake lights with a failing multifunction switch. When mine went bad, neither of my regular brake lights worked but my 3rd brake light did, all turn signals, wipers, worked fine. Best of luck to you!
