Default Low fuel light

When it turns on, how many gallons do you still have before the car completely shuts off?

This is regarding 6th gens but all should be the same

I'd say anywhere from 1 to 2 1/2 gallons when it comes on. Usually right before it comes on, the range calculator thing reads 50 miles left.

It's not good to run a car down to the fuel light. What can happen is the gunk on the bottom of the fuel tank can get through and cause a big messy expensive mess.

Or just simply burning up the pump because it's no longer submerged in gas to keep it cool. Usually when I "fill up" I never have to pump more than 10 gallons... into a 17 gallon tank.

With that said, I would always hear growing up my dad would go "s***, the lights on. Guess I only got another 20 miles."

Actually that how I been doing it for as long as I could remember. I fill the tank completely and run it till the low fuel light comes on before I fill it up again, I was just wondering if I was in a sticky situation, how long can I go before the car starts to hesitate and stutter, but I always wait till the light comes on that's how I keep up with calculating my MPGs

Go buy a fuel pump, you're going to need it. I also have never needed to put more than 10 gallons in my car to fill it.
