6th Gen ('00-'05): Low Coolant Light Keeps Coming On
I have a 2002 SS. The low coolant light keeps coming on. I have reset it several times, and checked and the coolant leval is correct and has been staying at correct level every time I check. It does not hurt to have it on, but just frusterates me. Any ideas on what could be the issue. I thought maybe a sensor, but I think that is built into the coolant jug.
The sensor probe may need cleaned, they tend to get gummed up. Worse case replaced, not very spendy, easy to do.
Look down below the radiator cap and you will see the sensor mounted on the radiator.

I should have just done that. Coolant level was always good but the Low light would come on. I seem to run cooler than most MC's on the road (170-180) max no matter what. Haven't replaced the Tstat so I don't know what it's rated at. In the off chance it got hotter than that (recent hot days may bump it to 185) the low coolant light would go off. But I always had heat, very hot heat. Changed the sensor today, but now I'm running a lot hotter (190ish driving, 200 at idle). Thoughts? I never saw those temperatures before, and all I did was change the sensor, refill, and bleed the system.
