Loud Clunking from front suspension
Thanks again for all the replies.
I went to the Chevy store yesterday and they did not have the kit for the subframe.
They did however have the lube kit for the ISS so I went ahead and bought it. I was really hoping it would work, Crow would have never tasted so good going down. But unfortunately the ISS has now been elimintated as the source of the noise.
Yes I replaced the strut tower bearings when I replaced the struts. Didnt see any problem with the springs.
Definitely not a CV joint. This is one loud pop as the suspension loads when the car is turning. Pops again next time you turn the other direction. If you go down the road and whip the steering first right, then left, it will pop once each time the suspension loadsas it changesdirection.
I guess I will order the subframe kit Monday. The cradle is definitely not "loose" as in able to shift around easily. I have tightened it so hard I was afraid I was going to snap the bolts. [
]It requires a hard loading of the suspension to make it happen.
I will keep you all informed.
Thanks
Roy

just something else that may cause it, you said you changed the hub assembly....you should check to make sure that the nut on it was torqed down properly...that could cause a clunk when turning
another suggestion is to look at the strut bearings for proper torque to the upper strut nut. possibly over torqued and crushed the bearing causing the bearings to bind. check again before spending more money
