Default Loose pedals

My gas pedal is very loose and my brake pedal has some play there too. How do I fix this problem?

I haven't been behind the pedal on my car, I just remember on Jenna's Impala there were 2 screws and one was loose for her haha.

The brake pedal is actually bolted to the big aluminum cross brace that holds the dash together and has a line that attaches to it. I had to remove the thing while taking the dash out to change the evap core. I always thought the brake and gas pedal was a cluster attached to the firewall, silly me.
