Knock/Thud in front end of '05 LT
Well, looking at the cost of any potential repair, I wish it was just the tires but they are only about 11 months old, and in great shape. Guess I'll take it in in the next week or so for the oil change and have they mechanic give her a once over. I hate car repairs.
Not yet, but I think it may be the intermediate steering shaft, all the symptoms fit to a T. there is a lube kit that GM has to "solve" the issue. I will give that a try when I can get my hands on it. Why doesn't someone just make a better shaft? they use it in the Monte, the Impala, the Grand Am and Grand Prix, and I think the Malibu too.
Don't buy any kits. Do you have a spray white lithium grease? Just use that. I can give you instructions if you want.
Also, check all of your bushings, maybe one of them have gone bad?

so have you been driving your care since you made the original post ? im not fussing, im curious because i JUST noticed this happening with mine and i absolutely need my vehicle for the next 5 days until i can get it to my uncle / mechanic. i just hope im not making the situation any worse by continuing to drive it
Basically you want to just use a white lithium spray grease (Like This)
Go under your steering wheel and above the gas / brake pedals there should be a plastic cover that is just held on by 2 clips, depress those and remove the cover. Now you will see the ISS, but it has a plastic boot covering the part you need to spray, just pull back on the plastic boot and you will see a green/teal thing, and the knuckle for the ISS. This is what you need to spray. Turn your steering wheel one way, spray, turn the other way, spray.
Close up and enjoy.
