jerking and stuttering
hello monte carlo fans,my name is robbie, and i have a 2003 monte carlo, and when driving along, between 45-50 mph,1400-2000 rpms, the car jerks and stutters like, the tach moves with this action,up and down, has any one encountered this problem or solved it?

Sounds like your catalytic converter is starting to hit the crapper. Also at about 40-45 MPHs our cars on a stock tune have a little lag.
But I would say your Cat.

thats one thing i was told,i didnt know a cat could cause that to happen, thanx,i was told it could be anything from o2 sensor,to speed sensor, plugs and wires, omg, all that,so you think the cat might be going bad

o2 sensor should throw a code. Speed sensor would throw a code and shut your ABS / Traction off. Plugs and Wires would give you a stutter on idle and at any speeds.
I would say the cat, because they are notorious for going bad on our cars. Which is when most of us go and get the ZZP (zzperformance.com) Downpipe. Research that some, and if you want just go ask a shop to perform a test on your cat.

If you disconnected your stock downpipe you would be able to tell, but honestly I would let a shop do the cat test properly. Shouldn't cost much... and it would be MUCH cheaper than having them do their own "diagnostics" and change tons of things that don't need to be changed.

Just to add to what has already been said, here's another helpful tip I received that might be of use to you if you have any monte friends:
The cat' would be my 1st guess. Take it to a RELIABLE independent garage and have the cat' pressure tested.
A cheap test is to (when the car is cold) get a similar car, have a friend rev the engine a bit, and put your hand up to the exhaust tip. Feel the pressure coming out? Now do that with your car. Does it have the SAME pressure???
If not, chances are your cat' is bad, ESPECIALLY if it's stock with 130K on the clock.
