is it or isn't it??
I have had my car for about a month now. (LOVE IT), its an 02 Monte SS. it has every option I could ask for. Leater, heated seats, sun roof, On-star- MyLink, etc, etc... last night I was driving and I noticed the guage cluster says Limited Edition but on the car there is no other spot that says it. What does it mean? is it or isn't it a limited edition?

Unless someone swapped out the cluster then it is a limited edition. Options for the LE included the High Sport body kit, performance suspension, lightweight HD braking and 5 spoke diamond cut wheels. Any or all of those options could have been ordered. You would need to look at the RPO codes to verify how your particular vehicle was equipped. You can get a list of the RPO codes here:

That is really a mis-leading message on the speedo overlay, as nice as the Monte is, it really wasn't a "Limited Edition" as anyone could order one like that during that production year.
And I'm guily of swapping the overlay on my SS for the limited edition one just to have that pretty little red bow tie

Thanks. I believe it really is the LE, just for the fact that is has all the above that you mention. not sure about the lightweight HD brakes and suspension cause I can't tell from looking. I will have to check the RPO's on them

Since you have an '02, if it has a 3800 v6 under the hood, then you do have a true SS. If it has a 3400 under the hood then it is not.
The highsport package (which included the "limited edition" speedo overlay is just a host of factory options for these cars (not sure if it was exclusive for the SS models).
