The only way I can think of is to pull the vacuum line off the brake booster and block off the hose. Then take it for a drive, but be very, very careful as it will be tough to stop so I wouldn't take it down the highway. If the problem goes away then its the booster, if not then its something else, but it should be easy to find because it sounds like its a larger leak.
