6th Gen ('00-'05): I got to bring this baby back to life!
I've been a big fan of Monte Carlos.since I can remember.I bought my first one the other day,a 2002 SS the owner said the starter had lock up they went and bought another vehicle and let the car sit up outside for two years . The battery was two years old and dead .I pulled the starter off it seemed to be working ,so I put a wrench on the crank it wouldn't budge I took the belt off to find out the generator was froze up. Think god! Went to junk yard pulled one off and put it it on.hooked up jumper cables it fired up and run the gages kind of acted wild jumping back and forth, when I took the jumper cables off it died the battery was dead again I know the generator I bought could be bad,the battery could be bad also . I got the car for a few hundred dollars .it was great hearing this baby run ,anybody with any suggestions other than the generator or battery would be appreciated I'll get them checked tomorrow and post back I'm so happy to be a member of the Monte Carlo family thank you
Spoiler
theres no lights left on or obvious things that would drain the battery the key ignition wants to stick in crank position I'm thinking it might need to be replaced I don't know if that would solve my problem maybe a voltage regulator any ideas?

Chiefxyz212, not sure where you are located but with the car sitting outside and if the battery was weak, it may have frozen up over the winter.... Just get another battery.
BTW, the voltage regulator is build into the alternator.

I did buy a new battery it run fine something is draining the battery overnight it's running fine charging like it's supposed to about every 30 seconds the voltage meter goes to nothing and the battery light comes on then back to normal wake up next morning battery dead.the interior lights came on going down the road I opened the door they went off I think I got a bad ground maybe
I am sure there are others here that may be able to point you to the exact spot based upon experience.
But lacking experience with this issue on these cars. You need to determine the "draw" on the battery. There are numerous YouTube videos that show how to do this using a multi-meter. You check the draw (which should be high) and start pulling fuses, one at a time until the draw stops (or greatly reduces). That will be the circuit to start tracing down.

Somehow the pass lock got me had to replace the key ignition . The draw on battery is no longer there a wire on the alternator was loose.driving the car daily now every 90 seconds or so the battery light comes on then goes off. Followed by every Warning light coming on and the gauges dropping to zero (all the gauges).the car never misses a lick doesn't shut off.it runs fine drives fine . I'm scared to take it for a road trip. Any help would be appreciated thank yo
