Windshield Wipers shut off in upright position when shut off
Hi,
My windshield wipers on my 2005 Monte LT lock into the upright-vertical position when I turn them off instead of parking-seating in the usual off position. Any quick solutions or am I off to Mr. Goodwrench?
Thanks,
Rob

well its either the wiper switch or the wiper motor...but as the wipers still work i dont think it would be the motor....
the wiper switch is available aftermarket...but if your car is under warranty go that way..because it would be a fortune from the dealer...

IIRC the park positioning mechanism is internal to the motor. I know for sure on Ford and I believe it is similar on GM that the problem is internal to the motor/control board. if the park function is the problem the wipers can work normally but park out of position. The S series truck/SUVhad similar problems with the intermittant function (mostly no intermittant function or fail to operate completely). GM's fix was to replace the module mounted on the motor. I have also seen the nuts where the wipers mount to the linkage work loose but that normally allows the wiper arm to "flop" and work erratically.
Most likely you will need to replace the motor.

Just want to report back that the problem with my wipers was repaired. The dealer replaced a Wiper Motor Bracket.
There was a service Bulletin #050843003A for this procedure, so it must happen somewhat often. Covered under warranty
so all is good. Thanks for your suggestions and help.
