How change air filter 06 SS

Default How change air filter 06 SS

Is there a trick or something to changing hte air filter?
I undid the clips at the the top of the box but it doesnt pull apart enough to even pull the old one out?

Am i missing something?

my manual says to loosen the clamp on the inlet tube to the air filter cover also.....

I just figured out how to do this the other day. You have to unclip the top clips like you did, and then pull them apart from the top. the plastic shroud on the side towards the engine is actually hooked into the other side by some plastic on the bottom. just pull them away from each other and it should come apart, just make sure you hook them back together on the bottom though

Also try to pull the engine side shroud UP and away from the other

tried all suggestons and this one worked.

Thanks a lot.

I will admit, of all the cars ive owned this was the toughest "simple job" air filter change i ever had.
lining it back up and closing the box took a long time to get right as well.

The next time you change the air filter you can make r&r easier by taking the above suggestion a step further. By removing the air duct hose from the inlet of the air box you will eliminate the resistance you were fighting trying to get the air box apart and lining it up after installing the new filter.

I just remove the hose at the TB and it all moves enough
