Default Here's a weird one with guages.

My 2005 SC SS has had a strange guage problem of late. It started with the tach buried upon a cold start though the engine sounded like it's normal 1500 (roughly) RPMs and went up (or I should be more accurate and say down clockwise) when revved. At that point all other guages were normal. The Tach issue went away after a few days, but now it's my temperature guage that's at 260 to start and goes clockwise from there. The problem's been intermittently the Tach, the oil pressure gauge and the temp gauge. Any ideas or similar experience on this anomaly? Thank you!

Pretty common issue with the '04-'05's (well, '04-'05 gm vehicles in general).
The gauge motors just start going bad. Unfortunately they are soldered into the board for the instrument cluster, and if you take it to a dealer they will just replace the whole cluster.
There is a post in the "how-to" section detailing how to pull the cluster and install new gauge motors, and also places around that will do the gauge repair for you.

Default Thank you

Wow, I didn't realize I wasn't alone in that one! I really suck with soldering so I guess I'm going to be looking for a gauge cluster and just take that route. I really appreciate the help!
