Hello all,

There have been many threads asking about a auto dimming mirror's wiring diagram. I thought about putting in a auto dimming mirror in my Jeep YJ, since I'm so used to it on my monte. So I dug all around the internet and found multiple wiring diagrams that only give a bit of information. After cobbling many together I came to a solution. MIght be a few years late but now anybody can put one in their monte carlo or another vehicle

If you don't have ONstar, then you only need 4 wires. See my image below for details as some pins/wires switch depending on your options. I have my car's option codes listed on the right side, though I forgot to add I have UE1. Pin numbering is on the harness's connector on the mirror. I made a diagram on the top left just in case you can't see. More information is on the bottom left for some things.

Pin setup if you can't read my handwriting
Pin 1 - Gray - Goes to courtsey lamp control which grounds it, likely when you turn on the dome lights. Also maybe needed for BCM controlled theather lighting dimming? not needed for auto dimming --- may be white in some models
Pin 6 - Blue/white stripe - 12v input for light bulbs you can turn on and off, not needed for autodimming -- Maybe orange in some models
Pin 8 - Black - GROUND
Pin 9 - Light green - Reverse 12v input - Will unDim mirror when reversing and only when reversing. Need to connect to 12v that is energized only when reversing
Pin 13 - Brown - Ignition 3 voltage meaning voltage when key is set to ON, required for Auto dimming


MINIMUM SETUP -To have function lamps when buttons are pressed and to have auto dimming

Recommended setup - Removes auto darkening when reversing

Deluxe Setup -Probably for monte carlo's only, you get BCM controlled theather dimming
