Default Replaced map lights and still no light - mirror issue?

I've done a search and couldn't find an answer to my question. I have a 2000 SS with the dimming rear view mirror. I've replaced the 2 map lights with known good bulbs and still don't have a working light in the mirror. The auto dim function works correctly though. The wiring harness into the back of the mirror is something like 5 or 7 conductors. I probed them and had power at blue and brown. From the wiring diagrams I have seen, the blue is for the autodim function and the brown is for the interior lights. I am not sure what the rest of the wires are for. I am at a loss and assume my mirror is broken. Is there anything common on the mirror that can easily be checked with it in the car, or do I need to pull it out and open it up on my bench?

turn the lights on, and then squeeze / pinch / move the wire around and see if they pop on.

Thanks for the info. It did work. I popped the connector back in the other day and wiggled it around but it didn't help. After reading your post, I gave it another try. I was a bit more spirited with the wiggling and my lights popped on. Now just to fix my power mirror control that partially works!

Hey, I have a 2003 and I am having the same problem with the map lights not coming on. I can wiggle the wire and plug to get them to come on momentarily but as soon as the wire moves they shut off again. Any suggestions?

Just keep playing with the wire, or you'll have to replace the connection, because obviously that's the issue.

Is there a way to take the mirror itself apart. I took the plug off and tightened the connections and now the drivers side light comes on and stays on but i can't get the passenger's side light to come on at all.

Can someone tell me the wiring color ordering for the connector ? As luck would have it I have a 2003 and 2004 - but the mirrors are not the same connector in the back. I'm looking for the 2003 mirror wiring - where the connector pinouts are numbered 1-7. What color to which number ?
Reason I ask..the mirror fell off and the wires separated from the connector.

Mine is doing that also. I have tried wiggling the wires but that rarely works. My dimming mirror has a strip at the bottom that doesnt dim so I'm gonna try and get a new mirror. Im pretty sure the guts inside are just wore out. I've had several cars with fancy mirrors and they have all broke.
