Default Help removing tranny on 2007 SS

I have an earlier post troubleshooting an issue and pretty sure I need to replace transmission. My plan is to send it to TEP and get it done right. I am very mechanically inclined but have not tackled any FWD trannys let alone the 4T65E's. Not finding anything online so wanted to ask for help. I get the basics of removing but curious if this can be removed without pulling engine. Almost looks like I could remove the lower aluminum frame surrounding engine/tranny on the underside.

Any help is appreciated.

Yes it can come out the bottom by removing the cradle... supporting the engine of course.

Here is a link to some helpful info: 4T65E HD transmission removal

Dave at TEP Rebilt my transmission. I don't have much tips about removal/re-install, but a few other tips.
  • Replace the radiator. The tranny cooler is built in and it will be full of fine metal sand.
  • Add an External tranny cooler. Dave can send you that.
  • Good time to replace the steering rack, since you've got it all apart anyway.
  • you'll need to replace the lower tranny mount.
  • good time to check stabilizer links and/or everything else while its all apart.
  • Dave replaced the front stabilizer, it was cracked at the end. The new/aftermarket ones are better.
  • He also found a bad steering pump hose. The dealer screwed up on the recall and replaced the wrong hose.
The good news after all this, it will run better than new!!
  • Good Luck!!

I am going with the TSP1 option which should be much improved. Luckily I had changed the fluid previously and had no contamination. Based on my problem and the fact the I quit driving it when it started acting up, Dave did not say to do this but did mention the items to watch out for. He had a core available let and hoping to see it in a week or so. No hurry as I am not about to put it on the salt roads. Thanks for the info. Bout the only part I am not looking forward to is getting the upper exhaust pipe of going over the Tanny. Might not need to take it off but looks like it will make the job that much easier. While waiting I have built a nice support fixture to give to my friend that has a lift in his garage after we are done for potential future use.
