IAC is a valve not a sensor so you shouldn't have to reset it, but if you want to try getting all new MAF readings you can unplug the battery for an hour.

How is it safe to run the car with the MAF disconnected?

It's not, it makes your car run extremely rich because the car doesn't know exactly how much air is entering, but it is OKAY to do just to get the car home if you need to.

I would love to see some scan tool data on this car, but I'm sure you don't have access to one.

Here is what I'm thinking, take it for what it's worth:

When the MAF is unhooked, the car defaults to a basic set of parameters for the engine to run. If I remember right, all it uses is CKP, CTS, TPS and MAP. Now, when you hook the MAF back up, it tries to use all of it's sensors to run. These include CMP, IAT, HO2S, and the ones I can't remember. So If it's getting a fudged up reading from any of these sensors, it wont run right. It could either be a bad sensor/s or bad wiring. Very hard to track down without a scan tool. IAC does not have anything to do with it. If it idles, the IAC is working. I see very few IAC failures, maybe 2 a year.

I agree about the sensor....what is the MAF circuit sensor. My husband is working on it because the garage seems stumped and I am not paying them hundreds of dollars to just try to figure it out. How about the throttle body sensor? He says when he drives it, hears a couple pops but when he turns it off he hears a gurgling nose in the throttle body.

Coolant runs through the TB, so he is probably hearing that.

Okay now changed MAF sensor, IAC valve, air filter and throttle body sensor. It's just getting worse. Starting to pop and backfire. Only code it ever throws is the MAF when it is disconnected or when it stalls when it is connected. Any ideas?

Okay, take that back, now getting a MAP sensor P107 code all of a sudden. Gonna keep doing this til we get it right. Mechanic seems stumped and don't want to pay $1000 for trial and error!!!

maybe you have a leaking intake gasket somewhere, mist some starting fluid around the engine while it's running, if it revs up you have a leak. your map sensor could be junk or it could just have bad rubber sealing on the sensor.

I think he did that already, but I will double check. Now getting code "misfire on #3" and its popping and bucking a little. Will not start in the AM with MAF connected, but will start when its warm.
