Hello I Need some advise.. When i put my 05 monte From reverse to drive it makes a Clunk Sound. it almost seems like stabilizar bar bushing but its not thier thier all good.. thinking top motor mounts or could be Bottem Mounts? Me and my Dad can figure it out axels seem fine.. almost EVRYTIME i go into revers to it will clunk. Then if i go bak into drive it will clunk again. once in drive and driveing i can not hear it anymore.. has 71 000kms....

check the strut tower brace. . . if it isnt tightened down all the way it will clunk when you throw it into reverse

 

You mean the ones i took off to paint? They go from the tower to front cross beam? i dont have the one that gose from strut tower to strut tower.. Ill Tighten those up Tomorrow. I only used a rench to put them on. I did that 2 weeks ago this is a good possiblity......

 

did you had a down pipe install lately? sound like the down pipe hitting the front sway bar. i used to had that too when putting on reverse and hearing that clunking sound.

 

Thanks... Funny thing was the strut tower brace. i painted them and never really tighten them really tight.. when you mention stb i seen the paint was wearing right where the washers are. Just Tighten them up at lunch and No more Clunk.. Thank you Whitescarlo
