Gm safety recall 15757
I just received a safety recall notice ( 15757) for certain Monte Carlo model year 2000 equipped with 3.8 L engine. The recall states these models are being recalled for drops of engine oil that may be deposited on exhaust manifold through hard braking. This condition could cause an engine compartment fire. Just giving you guys a heads up. Pay attention to your mail. It also states you can check status of recall at www.my.gm.com/recalls
Yup, they've done this recall before. And currently theres no fix. But if you notice your valve covers leaking, i'd replace the gasket yourself before issues arise.
Got the same letter days ago, they will replace front valve cover and gasket, they will also remove engine beauty cover and oil extension fill tube, I'm going for cover gasket, will remove cover and tube before taking it in then put them back when done.

I just got my notice yesterday.
I wonder if they have a similar recall on 3800 powered RWD 4th gen F-bodies with the aluminum valve covers. If so, I don't think the recall is going to apply to my Monte since it's using those f-body valve covers.

My guess is that they don't, since the engine isn't transverse.
The gasket leaks, you brake hard, oil seeps out and onto the manifold.
Just another recall notice that I'll throw in the trash. Every car I own is recalled for something, but I'm not bringing my car in for any of them lol

This issue dates back to 2007-08 or so - there was a recall for it then with a different fix.

..still using my pre-ignition recall key and generally ignoring all the letters and postcards from GM.
I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
