Default gauge cluster issue (at least with the motherboard behind it)

Hi everyone.

Just wondering if a cluster from a donor car can be used in yours if all match gauge wise and for the model year.
Essentially, when I replaced one of the gauge motors in the back, now my service engine display won't work anymore.
Just wondering if the mileage/VIN information is stored in the cluster and as soon as you put a replacement one in, the whole car would stop working.

Thanks.

you should be all good. your car inst going to lock up from that. i think the ss will actually work in the ls just a couple guages the ls doesnt have wont work because the wiring harness doesnt support them. but ls to ls or ss to ss will be compatible
