Default Fuel trim code setting check eng light

Does anyone know wtf is causeing a fuel trim code. I have a 06 mc ls (3500)
  • I have already checked for vac leaks with smoke machine. Found one on the line going to brake booster and fixed that.
  • Replaced cam shaft position senser because that was tripping a code and on the fritz.
  • Fixed exaust orignal had a massave hole in it (it had to be done regaurdless but a dealership said that a lack of back pressure will cause this code)
  • replaced seal on air box.
  • Replaced air filter
Im out of possable causes has anyone had this problem or know what might cause it or how to fix it. The code is P1174

hmmm...

P1174
Fuel Trim Cylinder Balance Bank 1

the fix I found for this code/issue says:

"Don't replace catalytic converter, PCM, injectors, fuel rails, fuel pumps -- Reprogram the ECM using TIS2Web"

so, sounds like you need to take it to the dealer/service dept and have them update your ecm...

I wanna say this is actually a problem on the newer montes and they will do the work warrantied.

I know my dad had a similar problem, and though his Monte wasn't covered, since it was emissions it would be covered for free.

I believe when it comes to emissions the warranty is extended to 75,000 or even 100,000 for some parts.

Like the stock cat on my car, was covered 'til 100,000. Emissions is it's own thing, and it could never hurt to ask. If it is the same problem that my dad's 06 SS experienced, it should be free and only take an hour.

Ok so i talked with a Gm tech I know and he did some reaserch and found this information that apparentley this was a common problem across the bord with engines that had variable valve timing. It seems that the Cam shaft spool valve seems to be sticking causeing the code to set. Does anyone know whats up with this and difficulty of fixing it. I have the gm tech data so that makes things easier.
