Default fuel filter

Thanks for all your help on changing spark plugs I really appreciate your input. Now onto the next question.....where is the fuel filter located on an 03 SS V6? Do you need a special tool to change it?

thanks for any and all help

i think its right near the gas tank, just follow the fuel line towards the front of the car from the tank

as for a tool, i know there's a tool out there for the gm's kinda looks like a wierd pair of scissors with round holes @ each end, i know kd makes the tool, i can post the part # and picture tommorrow when i get the part #

i'm not 100% positive but i thought the quick connect on the filter has plastic tabs you can release with your fingers, then you need a 16mm anda 20mm or 5/8 anda 13/16 for the other end

One end uses a wrench the other end is a quick connect. There is a tool made for it but you don't need it. I've changed mine twice and it's fairly easy.

I beleive all the 2000 + GM's switched to the fuel filter with a quick connect and nut combo. It might be tight fitting a cresant wrench in there. There is a "more specialized" tool you should use that looks kind of like an open end wrench, but it closes a bit more to the front. It looks more like a box end with the very end cut off. I just can't think of the name for the life of me, but I got my set at Sears for about $40.
