Default Flashing Check Engine Light

While driving home today the check engine light started flashing and then the car started skipping. Any idea what's going on? Got the codes and it said that #3 cylinder was miss firing. Needed a tuneup. Got that done and the check engine light is still on. How to reset it?

define skipping, is it like the car has hit the rev limiter?

If the motor is running fine now, you can disconnect the - terminal on the battery for a few minutes to clear the check engine light, or you can just drive it normally. The light will reset after 50 starts (IIRC) as long as the code doesn't come back.

A flashing check engine light ALWAYS means there is a mis-fire.

If you wanna reset, do the battery disconnect or take it to a code-reader and have them delete the code.

But if the light comes back / still flashes you could still be misfiring and the tune-up didn't fix it.

Very very old thread. But P0300 is a random misfire, which usually is indicative of a fueling issue
