Default engine removal

I am removing the motor from my 2003 3.4 Monte Carlo and have ran into a snag ... I have all the bell housing and torque converter bolts out and still cant get the engine to separate from the transmission am I missing something ?

Hi Amarsh,
I've never had this problem, but hopefully one of our member's has & can reply.
Have you tried to use a steel bar to try to break it lose ?
I know that they can form a tight seal over time & can be
difficult to get free.

Check back on your thread & hopefully a member can advise.
Good Luck!

Have you tried dynamic ? >

There's a plate at the side of the engine against the firewall that connects the engine to the transmission. I thinks that it's actually called the transmission stiffener plate. There are three bolts that connect it to the engine.

If you remove the front right tire, you can get access to them.

You have to unbolt the flexplate. It's between the transmission/torque converter and the engine. It's a tight spot (at least on 3800s) but it can be done.
