Default engine rebuild price question plz take a look

hi i know different shops charge different prices, today i was told buy a shop it would cost $2400 for the rebuild and $1125 for the installation for my 78 305 v8 monte carlo. I have a friend who had his GMC seierra's engine rebuilt for $2200 and was told by a family member that her boyfriend 19 years agon had his trans am engine rebuilt and installed for only $2400.I will look around more but was wondering if $3525 sounds like to much, also my brothe bought a el camino for $5000 and paying $3500 for this dosent seem right i live in canada plz tell me your opinion thanks

To me thats alot of cash. Im not sure what the cost of living is up there either tho.
Are they rebuilding it back to stock or are you upgrading some stuff?

$2400 is WAY to much to just rebuild your 305. You can get 350 to replace your 305 for a lot less money.
