Electronic Brake Control Module
Needing assistance with how to remove the EBCM on a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo LS, 112,000 miles 3.4L. Having problems out of intermittent ABS light with ABS code C1218 (Pump Motor Shortage or shortage in Pump Motor Circuit). Assumed the problem was the ground wire running from the EBCM/Brake Modulator Valve but doesn't seem to be the problem. Check the ground and re-routed the wire to another place on chasis, upper frame area. Still have ABS light on! Seems to come on as soon as transmission is put in drive. Just replaced right front wheel bearing after seeing a chipped on sensor wire. Apparently, that wasn't the problem! Someone say I should dismount the EBCM where it connects to the brake modulator valve to see if the inside of connector is corroded and or whether or not there is brake fluid inside of it. Need to know how to unmount this thing! Allddatdiy.com say to unlock red tape or something of the sort; I've no clue as to how to do this! Has any of you done this before? If so, how and thanks? Also, could the problem be a bad sensor wire not sensor?
Here's a diagnostic procedure that might be of help. It's for an '03 Impala, but should be the same for a Monte Carlo.
