ECG Valve: 97 Monte Carlo LS
I have owned my 1997 Monte Carlo LS for about 5, maybe 6 months now. Recently (since it has been getting colder) steam and a coolent type smell has been coming from my ECG valve. My grandfather plugged his computer into my car to read any error codes and it came back saying 0401. We looked it up and it is an error code if you have a block in your ECG valve. we opened it up and there was a peanut butter like substance inside of it.
As I said, I've owned this car for 5 months. I never knew that it was a dex-cool engine, so I have always put in universal coolent or 50/50. I'm not sure what the previous owner put in it.
I have driven this car a sum of 10,000 miles since having it. Never have I had a problem with performance or the heater not working. I'm wondering what I must do to this car in order to get all this steam to stop appearing after I have driven it (every time).
