cv joint? transfer case?

cv joint? transfer case?
I'm trying to figure out whats up with my wife's car.
2000 Monte SS
While driving at 40+ mph there is a very noticeable vibration. You can feel it in the steering wheel and in the front end of the car.
It seems to only do it after the car has been driven for a while.
The tire on that side was also wearing unevenly.
I don't hear any pops when I hit corners, but when I accelerate the vibration gets bigger.
Is there a way to check the cv joint for damage or to check the transfer case for issues?

Ok, thanks. I'm used to RWD cars. I thought it was a FWD thing.
I changed the tire on that rim and they never said anything about the rim being bent. It did it before and after I got the tire changed.
I tried taking it for an alignment today and they said that it wasn't a symptom for needing an alignment. They even took it for a test drive.
But then again they told me it may be the transfer case. Maybe they should have sold me some blinker fluid while they were at it.
