Default Crazy Dash/Electric Problems

So as of late my Monte's Dash lights go out for no apparent reason and it just the back light for the radio and the gear position. It seems to happen primarily at night but has happened in the day time a few times. Now to make matters worse my high beams are coming on for no damn reason it isnt that dark and they will still automatically activate. I remember seeing a thread about the instrument cluster being a prime suspect but dont wanna buy one without at least asking if I should look elsewhere as far as sensors and things of that sort. and also when I have the key in on or acc it will be dim then light back up like normal then goes dim again. cant figure out whats going on but still if anyone has had problems like this your help would be truly appreciated !

i have a 2002 SS and i am having the same issue, i was thinking of changing the ignition cylinder lock because it is kinda sticky and you have to jiggle the key to start the car, an my dash lights an stereo back light work when you turn the key just a little to the right. but not when the cars running.

yea I have been hearing alot that that seems to be the source to this issue thinking of doing that since the lights work during the day so dimmer switch looks to be the culprit

I had the same issue with my 2000 SS, and it turned out to be the traction control switch

Did you replace with factory head unit or aftermarket? I was thinking about putting in a new stereo.

The factory one. I mean it is about 11-12 years old so I guess it going bad is to be expected plus it is a control module for the car and a relays the message of day or night and where the **** is turned I believe is how it was explained
