hello everyone, i just put a cold air intake on my 2001 monte ss, i made this at home using 3 inch pvc pipe and a 45 degree connector my friend and myself worked on this and it seems to look and sound great start by removing the old air box inside you will find the computer we just layed it down flat once the box was removed, and secured it with tie straps i had bought a kit from e-bay the chromeair intake kit and only used the k@n filter that came with it filter model ru-3130 3.5 inch clamp on...it fits perfectly in side the wheel well trust me it works we then attached a 45 degree pvc pipe connector to it i shaved a little bit off the end of it to fit closer to the filter we then took the 3 inch pvc pipe and eye balled where it would sit near the throttle body and cut it ...now this is where i had a brain storm i used the original rubber piece that was on the throttle body and slipped the pvc pipe into it pulling the accordian (ribs)over the pipe smooth fit and having the pvc pipe just sit at the end by the throttle body it has just enough room for you to put the rubber back on tighten all the clamps and put the sensor back in the rubber and your done ... the cost to me was 4.00 for the 45 degree fitting 5.00 for pvc pipe 2 feet, and the cost of the filter varies on what you use if i thought about this a little more i wouldnt have spent the money for that intake off e-bay but i did ... i hope this helps someone who wants to do the same i"m sorry i dont have pics up yet of how it looks i will try to take some soon ..........
