Default Code P0101

2007 MC SS. Check engine light came on and I got this code. MAF signal is out of expected range. I wasn't surprised because I made a CAI for the car. I have made CAIs for other older cars and it never tripped the code. My questions are: Will this do any damage to my engine if I keep driving it this way? Should I clean the MAF? A new MAF is around $60 and I would put money on it that it would do nothing but I'm new to these cars. All I know is the MAF is definately hooked up and I didn't do anything different this time while making the CAI. Just worried I shouldn't be driving the car but after all this time and research making the CAI I really don't want to put it back. Any help is appreciated, i'll look around the forum too to see if anyone had similar problems. Thank you. BTW the car is stock beside resonator delete and flowmasters. It doesn't have a tune. Was thinking if it did then the light might not come on?!? I don't know I'm barely a shade tree mechanic at best.
