Default Clunking steering. I-shaft, or something else?

Greetings. My '07 MC LT (now at 29K miles) has developed an intermittent, light clunking sound through the steering column. It can be felt lightly through the wheel upon low-speed turns, and faintly heard. Like a light bumping sensation. In a nutshell, the steering is no longer as fluid as it used to be.

I've looked up some TSB's on my model, and nearly everything indicates an intermediate shaft that needs replacing, or at least lubricating. Does that sound right? Anybody else suffering this problem...especially on an '06-'07 3.5-liter Monte?

Again, these symptoms are just now starting to surface very faintly. Am I correct in thinking that if I don't do something about that shaft, the symptoms will likely only get worse?

Those symptoms sound like something I saw on an older car I had. Turns out I had a busted front stabalizer linkage. The clunk was when it knocked together (sometimes during turns or bumps). And the steering felt like it had some play/wander in it. That car did that twice to me....

Before going too crazy, look behind the front wheels and see if those linkages are still in tact. If not, it's a quick/easy fix.

Its the intermediate steering shaft. SUPER common problem on this car. My 06, 3.5L had the problem at 95K. The ISS was replaced under warranty by the dealer.
