Default check engine light

ok so i plan on taking my car to pepboys and having it checked out soon but never have free time so i figured ill try here in the mean time. i have an 01 ls monte and recently i noticed that whenever i accelerate a little quick the check engine light flashes for a few seconds then will turn off. also i will randomly feel something i can only describe as my car wanting to stall . it feels as if somethings tapping on the brakes. not on the pedal itself but just the performance. any idea what this might be? i figured this is the best place for monte information!

Flashing check engine light means a misfire is detected.

When you get the code read at an autoparts store they will give you the OBD-II code.

But yes you are misfiring, you might as well start changing the spark plugs and don't drive it.
